Kentucky Derby Chocolate Walnut Pie

Ok, I know.. this recipe is not healthy. The key here is portion control and moderation! The Kentucky Derby is only once a year – you can splurge every so often! This traditional pie will go great with a glass of Kentucky bourbon while watching the horse race this weekend.

1/2 cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup melted butter
2 Tbsp Kentucky bourbon (I use Buffalo Trace)
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of salt
1 ready-made piecrust (to save time!)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Combine flour and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add the eggs and butter – mix to combine.
3. Stir in the bourbon, walnuts, chocolate chips, vanilla, and salt. Pour the mixture into the unbaked piecrust.
4. Bake for 40-45 minutes. Let cool before slicing.
